Bryant A. Toth, M.D. F.A.C.S.
Bryant A. Toth is an internationally renowned and respected cosmetic surgeon who resides and practices in San Francisco, California. Dr. Toth is a magna cum laude graduate of Dartmouth College where he was named a Rufus Choate Scholar in his senior year. He received his medical degree from Brown University followed by general surgical training at the Massachusetts General Hospital, the primary teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School, where he also did his plastic surgical training.
At the completion of this plastic surgical training, Dr. Toth was awarded the prestigious Kazanjian Fellowship from Harvard, allowing him to pursue an additional year of cosmetic and craniofacial surgical training in Paris, France. He has been certified by both the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Plastic Surgery.
Dr. Toth has practiced plastic surgery in the same location in San Francisco since his return from Paris 27 years ago. He is currently a full Clinical Professor of Plastic Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco, and is the Co-Director of the Craniofacial Clinic at Children’s Hospital Oakland.
In addition to surgery, Dr. Toth contributes to plastic surgery through his writing. He has published over 70 journal articles, 14 book chapters, and six instructional videotapes and is the co-editor of three textbooks on plastic surgery. His most recent book, International Textbook of Cosmetic Surgery, edited by Dr. Toth and Dr. Nicolo Scuderi of Rome, is a two volume textbook of cosmetic surgery techniques that will be translated into multiple languages and is destined to be one the most pre-eminent texts in the cosmetic field.
He is currently on the Editorial Board of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the international journal of cosmetic surgery. Dr. Toth has been invited to demonstrate new techniques in cosmetic surgery by lecturing and performing live surgery in a variety of venues including Paris, Milan, Copenhagen, Capetown, Sao Paolo, Moscow and Shanghai. He continues to be named one of the top cosmetic surgeons in San Francisco and the U.S. by Castle-Connolly, San Francisco Magazine, and others.

Dr. Bryant A. Toth has a national and international reputation as both a clinical surgeon and an educator. He has received numerous awards and honors both at home and abroad in the field of aesthetic as well as reconstructive plastic surgery. Dr. Toth lectures nationally and internationally in an effort to share his enormous breadth of his knowledge and help educate young surgeons. In addition to receiving recognition in “Best Doctors in America” for over a decade, he has also been awarded the award for Favorite Plastic Surgeon in San Francisco by J Magazine.
Internationally, Dr. Toth is an active member of the French Society of Plastic Surgery and the Italian Society of Plastic Surgery in addition to being an Honorary Member of the Hungarian Society and the Czech Society of Plastic Surgery. In 1990 he received an Honorary Degree from Charles University in Prague for bringing the first group of international surgeons to the Czech Republic following the fall of the Berlin Wall.
As one of the very few American members of the exclusive European Society of Plastic Surgery (EURAPS), Dr. Toth stays apprised of new techniques in Europe and helps teach cosmetic surgery to this group of outstanding surgeons. In Barcelona in 2009 he presented his series of patients who had undergone midface advancement with a long term follow up, and in Madeira, Portugal in 2008 he presented his series of facelift patients who had undergone a Vertical Midface Lift using the High-SMAS technique. In 2004 in Genoa, Italy he shared his experience in the Subperiosteal Midface Lift.
In February of 2009, Dr. Toth gave a one-man full day symposium including live surgery on facelifts and eyelid surgery in Milan, Italy. The llive surgical demonstration was a Vertical High SMAS Facelift followed by questions and answers from over 200 surgeons in attendance. He also was the organizer of an International Facelift Symposium in Rome in September with a world renowned international faculty. Again, he lectured on the Vertical Facelift, Subperiosteal Midface Lift, and Blepharoplasty in the Male.
In January and in October he was the Magistrale Lecture for two international symposiums on Surgery of the Breast where he lectured on Achieving Excellence in Breast Surgery and the Skin Sparing Mastectomy, a technique that he invented in 1989. Skin Sparing Mastectomy has literally revolutionized the surgical treatment of breast cancer. In October he was the main guest speaker in Stockholm, Sweden at the Swedish Society of Cosmetic Surgery where High SMAS Facelift, Vertical Midface Lift, and Blepharoplasty were his topics. In August he was the Honored Speaker at the Thai Society Meeting of Cosmetic Surgery where he lectured on Cosmetic Surgery of the Asian Face.
For four consecutive years Dr. Toth has lectured in Russia where he performed live surgery in Moscow and in St. Petersburg in addition to lecturing on Facelift and Facial Aesthetic Surgery. In Moscow, Dr. Toth performed a Vertical (High SMAS) Facelift in front of 600 surgeons and in St. Petersburg he lectured on Breast Augmentation and performed live breast augmentation on three patients as part of a teaching symposium which was televised.
The Brazilian Society of Plastic Surgeons has recognized Dr. Toth’s outstanding contributions in cosmetic surgery and he is a regular speaker and surgeon at their annual meeting including multiple meetings in Sao Paolo, Rio de Janiero and Curitiba. He has also been the guest of the Argentinian Society of Plastic Surgery in Buenos Aires, the Turkish Society of Plastic Surgery in Ankara as well as the Iranian Society of Plastic Surgery in Tehran.
Dr. Toth has also spent in depth time in various countries. In the year 2000 Dr. Toth operated throughout China (Beijing, Shanghai, Dalian, and Guangxiou) demonstrating Breast Augmentation and Liposuction including the new technique of Ultrasonic Liposuction. In 2004 he similarly was a guest professor in South Africa and spent 3 weeks performing live cosmetic surgery including facelifts, eyelifts, breast augmentation in Capetown, Johannesburg, Durban and the capital city Pretoria. He continues to tirelessly and passionately teach and educates his international colleagues.

International Textbook of Aesthetic Surgery is edited by Drs. Bryant A. Toth and Nicolo Scuderi, Chief of Plastic Surgery in Rome, Italy. The two volumes set covers all of the major procedures in cosmetic surgery with contributions from an international group of plastic surgery leaders. It has been translated into English and Italian.

Flaps: Decision Making in Clinical Practice is a textbook written by Dr. Bryant A. Toth and a group of his close colleagues in plastic surgery. It covers a wide spectrum of surgery dealing with difficult problems that have plastic surgery solutions.
An Atlas of Orbitocranial Surgery
An Atlas of Orbitocranial Surgery is a surgical atlas/textbook that covers all of the major procedures in craniofacial surgery. Dr. Toth edited this textbook with two of his colleagues, one a neurosurgeon and the other an ophthalmologist. It is a true multispecialty collaboration of those that deal with surgery around the eye and orbit.
